After over a decade of experience in water management and chemical water treatment, Precept Environmental, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Britt Rodgers and Johanna Astaire with the goal of providing customers unbiased solutions in water management. They were dedicated to building a business that was based purely on consulting and support services, free of any ties to chemical or equipment solutions, or an in-house laboratory. By prioritizing our customers’ best interests, we have earned their trust and loyalty. These founding goals remain deeply rooted in our business model and will continue to dictate how we conduct business.

Johanna Astaire

Vice President/Cofounder

Johanna has a Master of Science degree with distinction from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.  As one of the founding members of Precept, she leads business and sales operations, and oversees technical aspects of Water Management Programs, Indoor Air Quality investigations, and analytical studies.  

Karen
Karen Rodgers

Finance Manager

Karen is responsible for financial budgeting, analytics, reporting, forecasting and strategic planning. She holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. Prior to Precept, she has held several positions at multiple Fortune 500 Companies where she acquired a diverse background in R&D, Sales, Manufacturing and Business Analytics.

Jessica
Jessica Villarreal

Business Manager

Jessica is responsible for overseeing business operations for the company as a whole, across both the Consulting and Service Divisions. Jessica has designed and developed Water Management Programs for healthcare facilities throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley since joining Precept in 2011 and manages the Northern California and Hawaii regions and is a certified ASSE 12080 Legionella Water Safety Specialist.

Andi Carranza

San Diego/Arizona
Regional Advisor

Andi manages all projects in the healthcare, commercial and hospitality industries in the San Diego and Arizona regions. With 12 years of experience in healthcare, Andi specializes in Water Management Program development and implementation, as well as indoor air quality studies.

Mandy
Mandy Palm

Los Angeles/Las Vegas Regional Advisor

Mandy has been a Technical Consultant in the field of Environmental Microbiology since 2009 with a focus on indoor air quality and waterborne pathogens in healthcare. She is currently responsible for business development and account advisement for the Los Angeles and Las Vegas regions. She holds ANSI accredited certification for Sustainable Comprehensive Water Management Program Development and is a certified ASSE 12080 Legionella Water Safety Specialist.

Ash Rouse

Northern California Regional
Service Manager

Ash has over 10 years of experience in plumbing, construction, and project management. He joined Precept in 2018 to build the Northern California Service Division. He manages cooling tower disinfections, ice machine sanitizations, and building water disinfections for our Northern California and Hawaii customers.

Erik Pliska

Bay Area Project Advisor

Erik holds a Bachelor of Integrated Studies in Economy and Industry from the University of Arizona, and provides Water Management Program development, and Indoor Air Quality studies in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) with 8 years of experience in environmental consulting in industrial and healthcare settings.

Alex Visconti

Orange County Associate Advisor

Alex Visconti holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Concordia University, Irvine. He combines a strong academic foundation with 2 years in industrial water treatment and 5 years in Water Management Plan Development. Alex's expertise spans Indoor Air Quality Studies, Domestic Water System Chlorination, and Sterile Processing Water Quality projects in industrial and healthcare settings.

Lauren
Lauren Maupin

Inland Empire Associate Advisor

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the California State University of San Bernardino. Since joining Precept in 2018, Lauren has been providing Water Management Program development, and Indoor Air Quality studies in the Inland Empire Area.
